In this work, we introduce a retrospectively gated inversion recovery snapshot FLASH sequence with radial k-space sampling for robust myocardial T1 mapping in small rodents. The sequence was tested at 7T on rats and mice yielding T1 maps with good agreement with literature. The sequence was tested at 7T on rats and mice yielding T1 maps with good agreement with literature. In mice, the internal navigator was often not sensitive enough to allow retrospective triggering. In rats, retrospective gating using internal navigator was as successful as using an external ECG signal.
