Intracerebroventricular injection of Amyloid Beta (Aβ) induced white matter damage in external capsule and optic tracts in mice. The damage was associated with an increased axial diffusivity in the external capsule and a decreased axial diffusivity in optic tract as detected by Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI). Our data suggested that axial diffusivity may serve as a marker for white matter damage in Alzheimers disease, capable of differentiating underlying pathological mechanisms.
